Founder of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation.
Professor Władysław Bartoszewski passed away in Warsaw on 24 April 2015.

Historian, Doctor of Humanities, Director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. Member of the International Auschwitz Council and its Secretary from 2000 to 2006. Member of numerous committees and forums dedicated to the memory of the concentration camps and the victims of the Third Reich. Co-founder of the International Centre for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust. Co-founder and president of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation.

Graduate of the Universities of Warsaw and Montpellier. He was involved for many years in NGOs promoting democracy and political change in Eastern Europe. Co-founder of the "Free Ukraine" and "Free Belarus" initiatives. Co-founder of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation and its long-standing Director General.
